BURTON’S DEE WINTERS MAKES 49ERS OPENING DAY ROSTER
After a successful college career at TCU, former Burton Panther Dee Winters is making the opening day roster for the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL teams made their final cutdowns this week to get down to the 53 man rosters.
Winters played in all three preseason games for San Francisco. His best performance came in the final game against the Los Angeles Chargers on August 25. He had six tackles, five of which were solo, and one of them was for a loss.
Winters, who is a 2019 graduate of Burton High School, was drafted by the 49ers in the 6th round with the 216th pick overall in the 2023 draft. In college, he started at linebacker for three out of his four seasons with the Horned Frogs.
Winters and the San Francisco 49ers open the regular season on Sunday, September 10, at the Pittsburgh Steelers at noon.
Dee is an exceptional young man. I had the opportunity to watch Dee grow in his faith, in the classroom and on the baseball and football field. He always gave 110% on and off the field. Dee has been a perfect representative on the field as a team player and leader. God has always been the center of his life. Congratulations to him and his family for helping him live his dream.
