NEW CARDBOARD RECYCLING CENTER OPENING IN BURLESON CO.
Burleson County is opening a new cardboard recycling center.
A ceremony to celebrate the opening of the facility will be held on Thursday, September 28th at 10 a.m. It will be located at 265 County Road 107 in Caldwell, across from Caldwell Livestock Commission.
The center will provide county residents and local businesses with a place to drop off clean, flattened cardboard to be baled and recycled without the need for a dump permit.
Baled cardboard will be sold through the Rural Recycling Cooperative operated by Keep Texas Beautiful, giving Burleson County a way to convert what was formerly a solid waste expense into a new source of revenue.
The cardboard recycling center came to be through a $38,400 grant provided by H-E-B and administered by Keep Texas Beautiful. The grant went toward the building and a cardboard baler, the latter of which should arrive next week. The facility is only for cardboard recycling.
Cardboard collection will also continue at the four main county precinct collection stations for residents with permits. For those without permits, opportunities for public recycling include the Burleson County Girl Scouts in Caldwell and Somerville ISD’s open recycling dumpster.
Burleson County Grants Administrator Raileen Murray said the county is excited about how much the community has gotten behind this program and its efforts to promote recycling.
