RENEE MUELLER RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION AS WASHINGTON CO. ATTORNEY

Washington County Attorney Renee Mueller has announced she will seek another term.

Renee Mueller

Mueller, who will run as a Republican in the March 2024 primary, has served as the county attorney since 2013.  Her previous roles include serving as the District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District, which covered Washington and Burleson counties during her time there, as well as operating a private practice.  She has over 25 years of prosecutorial experience, along with experience in civil and family law matters.

Mueller says her job is very diverse and that her office has seen increased demands as the county grows and changes.  She says some of the most important qualities to have as a county attorney, however, will always stay the same: maintaining ethics and being mindful of the county’s best interests.

Mueller is a graduate of Brenham High School, Blinn College, Texas Lutheran University and South Texas College of Law in Houston.  She is active in the Fortnightly organization, Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Faith Mission board.  She is also a member of the Texas District and County Attorneys’ Association, Texas Association of Counties Core Legislative Group and the National District Attorneys’ Association.

Mueller says her goals include looking for more ways to efficiently handle the duties of her office, such as her past implementation of a case management program for criminal cases and a pretrial diversion program for first time drug offenders.  She also seeks to continue strengthening the working relationships she and her office have established.

Filing for a place on the ballot officially opens on November 11th.
