SIX CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.
The Brenham Fire Department responded to six calls throughout the day on Wednesday.
Shortly before 9:15 a.m., the department was dispatched to the 100 block of Highway 290 West for a report of a child locked inside a vehicle. Units arrived on location to find the child locked inside the vehicle, but in no danger. They used an unlock tool to open the vehicle doors.
Just before 2:45 p.m., firefighters responded to the 3000 block of Brandenburg Lane for a report of a gas smell outside by the meter. BFD members and City of Brenham crews arrived to find a small leak on the meter. The City of Brenham took over the scene, while firefighters returned to service.
Approaching 4 p.m., the department was called out to the 1000 block of Highway 105 for a transportation incident. Units found a three-vehicle accident with one driver entrapped. They used cutters and spreaders to remove the driver’s door and cleaned up the spill with dry absorbent. No information on the patient was made available.
Just shy of 6 p.m., firefighters went out to the 2800 block of Wood Ridge Boulevard for an alarm sounding, but while enroute, dispatch advised that proper code was given for alarm cancellation.
Minutes later, units were sent out to FM 390 North and Highway 105 along with the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department for a report of a transportation incident with entrapment. Meyersville firefighters made location and found no one entrapped, so they cancelled Brenham units.
Just after 6:45 p.m., BFD members were dispatched to the 300 block of Tison Street for a gas leak. Firefighters found the leak coming from the gas meter, and the City of Brenham Gas Department repaired the leak.
