NINE CALLS BETWEEN MONDAY, EARLY TUESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to nine calls between Monday and early this (Tuesday) morning.

At 8:45 a.m. Monday, the department was dispatched for a crash with entrapment along with the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department at Highway 290 East at Routt Road.  Chappell Hill units cancelled Brenham firefighters once they learned the patient was out of the vehicle.

Around 12:30 p.m., units responded to the 3400 block of Highway 36 North for a crash without entrapment.  They arrived to find a one-vehicle accident involving a blue Ford pickup with moderate roof and passenger side damage.  All occupants were out of the vehicle.  Firefighters secured the vehicle’s power and ensured no fluids were leaking before they were released from the scene by law enforcement.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., BFD members went out to Kruse Village, 1700 East Stone Street, for a fire alarm coming from an apartment.  They found that the heater had turned on, causing the alarm to go off.  The alarm was reset, and units cleared the scene.

At 7 p.m., Brenham and Meyersville firefighters were called out to a structure fire at a single-story house in the 1600 block of Old Independence Road.  Nothing was showing from the exterior, but units found a glowing electrical plug in the garage, causing light smoke.  They checked for extension in the wall and attic, but none was found.  The breaker to the plug was turned off, and they returned to service.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., the department was dispatched to Brenham National Bank, 2211 South Day Street, for a fire alarm.  Nothing was found that would cause the alarm system to go off, so firefighters cleared the scene.  They were called back out to the bank just before midnight for another fire alarm, and once again found nothing that would cause the alarm to go off.  A keyholder made location, and the department advised them that they had a problem with the alarm.

At 12:30 a.m. today, the Brenham and Meyersville departments responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of New Years Creek Lane.  The Brenham Fire Department assisted the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department with extinguishing the fire and were later released from the scene by the Meyersville fire command.

Just past 2:30 a.m. and shortly before 4 a.m., firefighters were notified of fire alarms at Kruse Village.  Both times, they made location to find the alarm coming from the bottom floor.  They discovered two smoke detectors with lint that may have caused the alarm to go off.  The department reset the alarm and cleared the scene.
