An Elgin man was sentenced to 99 years in prison after being found guilty of Murder in a Lee County District Court.

45-year-old Timothy Paul Bradshaw was convicted of the February 2022 shooting death of 43-year-old David Brian Maxwell of Fort Worth.

Bradshaw will have to serve at least 30 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

He was also found guilty on additional charges of Kidnapping and Aggravated Assault in relation to a second victim, 27-year-old Abigayle Leigh Haynes of Elgin, and sentenced to two years in prison on each count.

All three sentences will run concurrently.

The incident occurred at 1098 Deerwood Drive in the Beaukiss area near the Lee County/Williamson County border.

According to prosecutors, Bradshaw handcuffed Haynes to a headboard against her will for an hour and a half, and sent text messages from her phone asking Maxwell to help her with boxes because she wanted to leave.

When Maxwell arrived, Bradshaw shot him twice, once in the left temple, and once below the left ear.

Investigators say that Bradshaw then attempted to hide the evidence in the woods near the residence.

Bradshaw’s defense attorney Justin Fohn of Bastrop tried to argue that he was acting in self-defense.
