ELECTION 2024: WASHINGTON CO. PCT. 3 CONSTABLE
As early voting winds down for the March 5th primary election, KWHI is speaking with candidates from several of the contested races in Washington County.
One position turned vacant as a result of a different race. The Precinct 3 Constable seat was held by David Blakey Jr., but opened after he declared his candidacy for sheriff. The constable’s post is now sought by Brad Kuecker and Damon Wegner. Both are running as Republicans, with no Democrats on the ballot.
Kuecker has over 25 years of law enforcement experience, starting with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Houston Police Department and now as a sergeant and K-9 handler in the Precinct 1 Constable’s Office. He says his firsthand knowledge and training in that office equips him well to serve in the lead constable role in Precinct 3.
Wegner has spent the entirety of his 30-plus year career with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked as a jailer, patrol deputy, warrant deputy and criminal investigator. He retired with the rank of sergeant but still serves as a reserve deputy. Wegner wishes to continue his involvement with the county in this new capacity and believes his past experience will allow him to do so successfully.
