LADY PANTHERS SHUTOUT NORMANGEE 16-0

The Burton Lady Panther Softball Team stayed perfect in district play (3-0) with a 16-0 shutout victory over Normangee on Monday.

Burton got things started in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs. Kalli Pohl hit a one-out triple, and later scored on an RBI single by Amaya Williams. Williams would come home on an RBI double by Aerynn Huntsman to make it 2-0 Burton.

The Lady Panthers added four more runs in the top of the second inning. Abby Dowling led off with a walk, and then took second base on a passed ball. Reagan Roemer reached on an infield hit. Pohl followed with an RBI single to score Dowling. Williams singled, and Pohl got out trying to advance an extra base. Bailey Glaesmann then slammed a three-run homer over the centerfield fence to increase the lead to 6-0.

Burton put the game away with ten runs in the third inning. Melanie Wood drew a walk, and stole second. Dowling was hit by a pitch, and then two batters later, Roemer was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Wood scored on a passed ball, and Pohl walked to re-load the bases. Williams singled home Dowling. Glaesmann was hit by a pitch, which allowed Roemer to score. Huntsman singled home Pohl, and Jennifer Lopez singled in Glaesmann, which put the Lady Panthers up 11-0.

The inning continued with Wood singling in Huntsman. Lopez scored on an error by the Normangee catcher. Dowling and Kelsie Hohlt drew back-to-back walks. Roemer brought in Wood with a single. Pohl walked with the bases loaded, which scored Dowling. Whitfield was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that brought home Hohlt. The game was called after just three innings.

Glaesmann was dominant in the circle as she racked up another win. She pitched all three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.
