BLINN BOARD TO CONSIDER NEW TUITION, FEE PROPOSALS

The Blinn Board of Trustees will consider planned tuition and fee increases for the 2024-25 Fiscal Year when it meets Tuesday.

The changes, which were first proposed during the College’s February 20th board meeting, include an extra $1 per semester credit hour for in-district, out-of-district and non-resident students, as well as an additional $3 per semester credit hour in general fees.  There would also be a projected average increase of 1 percent in the housing and meal rates.

With the proposed rate adjustments, the College expects to receive $1.45 million in new tuition and fee revenue and $14,400 in added meal revenue.  Housing revenue is anticipated to drop by $380,000 due to the demolition of the Buccaneer, Katherine Atkinson, Lockett and Spencer residence halls.

Other business on Tuesday will include authorizing opt-in to the Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) dual credit program.  Trustees will also consider permitting contract negotiations for academic building interior renovations and fire alarm replacement at Wheeler Hall on the Brenham Campus.

The board will meet Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the third-floor board room of the Brenham Campus Administration Building.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Blinn College’s YouTube channel.

  1. So, you plan to spend money to demolish four dormitories so that you can then turn around and loose money from rental income? This better explains why my property taxes are increasing. You might as well give yourself a raise while your at it.
