BURTON PANTHERS GET SPLIT WITH A 4-3 WIN OVER FAYETTEVILLE

The Burton Panther Baseball Team came back to defeat the Fayetteville Lions 4-3 on Thursday night. The win gave the Panthers a split in their season series 1-1.

Fayetteville, who finished as the state runner-ups last year. jumped out with a run in the first inning. Keagan Supak drew a walk, and scored on an RBI double by Chance Konvicka.

Burton got the run back in the bottom of the third inning. Brady Griffin scored on a bases loaded walk to Braydon Martin to tie the score at 1-1.

Fayetteville went back in front with a run in the top of the fourth. Lawson Fritsch reached on a error and later scored on an RBI single by Brody Dooley to put the Lions up 2-1.

Mason Fenhaus led off the fifth with a walk, and would come around to score on a sacrifice fly by Jake Kubala that increased the Fayetteville lead to 3-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Griffin reached on a single, and stole second. Tyler Witt brought him home with an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2.

The Panthers added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.

Fayetteville loaded the bases with one out in the top of the 7th, but Bryson Biggs came on in relief, and got a double play earn the save and end the game.

Eli Jaeger got the win going six innings, allowing four hits, three runs, only one of which was earned, walking five, and striking out ten.

Burton gets set to face Snook tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 6:30pm.
