VALMONT EXPANSION, NEW TRUCK STOP LEAD MARCH BUILDING PERMITS
Expansion at a local manufacturing facility and construction of a new truck stop were the high points for the City of Brenham’s building permits in the month of March.
The city’s largest permit issued last month went to Valmont Industries in the amount of $5,282,580 for the addition of a new press building at its location at 2551 Valmont Drive. Work is contracted to MBC Management, Inc.
Valmont is expanding its production capacity to meet increasing demand for its infrastructure products. Last summer, the Brenham City Council and Washington County Commissioners approved resolutions to adopt a commercial tax phase-in agreement with Valmont. Brenham | Washington County Economic Development Director Teresa Rosales said at the time that the company projected a total capital investment of $57,595,000 and anticipated adding 140 jobs.
The second-largest permit of the month was for $2,500,000, going to Express Fuel Truck Stop to build a gas station with a restaurant at 1367 West Blue Bell Road. AJ Construction Services is leading work on the project.
Eight new homes were permitted in March for $1,266,048. So far this year, 31 new homes have been permitted for $5,093,624.
A total of 26 permits were taken out in March for $9,434,841. In comparison, March 2023 had 36 permits for $2,064,539.
