CITY OF BURTON TO MEET TUESDAY EVENING
The Burton City Council will hold their regular monthly meeting this Tuesday at 5:30pm at the Burton City Hall.
Council members have several items on their agenda to approve regarding the Community Block Grant that they received from the Texas General Land Office.
Last month, the City of Burton was approved for a $593,800 grant for upgrades to their water system, including a new water well.
The items include ratification of the grant, a resolution regarding civil rights policies, designating authorized signatories, amendments for multiple contracts regarding the grant, and opening a new checking account for the grant funds.
In non-grant related items, the Council is scheduled to amend the Laas-Weeren Park rules adopted in a previous ordinance, and to re-affirm another ordinance that prohibits the consumption of alcohol on City property.
They will also be accepting the Socioeconomic Survey results as provided by Business Services Company.
Plus, one council member will be chosen as Mayor Pro-tem and another will be chosen as Sergeant-at-Arms.
The City of Burton has also announced that they will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.
