TAMMY BRAUNER RESIGNS AS WASHINGTON CO. DISTRICT CLERK; SUZETTE BLAKEY APPOINTED AS INTERIM
Washington County District Clerk Tammy Brauner has resigned after nearly 30 years of service in the county.
The resignation, according to Human Resources Director Angela Mlcak, was due to “personal reasons” and would take effect when an interim district clerk was sworn in.
Suzette Blakey was sworn in this (Wednesday) morning to the interim position by District Court Judge Carson Campbell.
Brauner started her career with Washington County in June 1996 as a deputy clerk in the district clerk’s office. She served as interim district clerk from April to December 2012, and has been in that role full-time since January 2013. She was sworn in for her current term in January 2023.

Mlcak said, “Washington County is grateful for her many years of dedicated service.”
County Judge John Durrenberger said it is the district judge’s responsibility to name an interim appointment for the district clerk position. County commissioners on Tuesday approved a bond for Blakey to serve as the interim district clerk.
Durrenberger said since Brauner had over two years remaining on her term, an election will need to be held for a new district clerk. The election will take place in November.
Thank you, Tammy Brauner for your service.
