CITY OF BRENHAM NAMES TAMMY MURPHY AS NEW LIBRARIAN

The City of Brenham has promoted Tammy Murphy to be the city's next Librarian.

Tammy Murphy
(City of Brenham)

Murphy joined the City of Brenham in 2012 and was named Assistant Librarian in 2016.  She has held the role of Interim Librarian since September 2023 after the resignation of Idalia Avezuela, and she also served as Interim Librarian following the resignation of Andria Heiges in August 2021.

In a press release today (Friday) from the city announcing her promotion, Murphy said she is “honored and grateful” for the city’s trust in her “to care for and to keep advancing the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.”

Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas A&M University and retired from Brenham ISD after 29 years serving as an educator.

The city said, “Her knowledge, experience, dedication, and professionalism are assets to our community and the NCRML.”
