BRENHAM MAN SENTENCED TO 40 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MURDER

Jason Andrew Saxton (Washington Co. Jail)

A Brenham man will be spending a long time in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of his significant other.

32-year-old Jason Saxton pled guilty back in January to the murder of 44-year-old Cynthia Jackson.

Saxton was scheduled to have a jury determine his punishment this (Tuesday) morning in Washington County District Court. However, he elected to be sentenced by a plea agreement to 40 years in prison.

Judge Reva Towslee Corbett presided over the hearing. District Attorney Julie Renken represented the State, while Letitia Quinones of Houston represented the defendant.

On August 8, 2021, Brenham Police responded to a report of shots fired at 2300 Becker Drive. Jackson died at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Saxton was arrested and later indicted for Murder on October 26, 2021.

The case was investigated by the Brenham Police Department with assistance from the Texas Rangers.

This morning’s plea hearing was attended by numerous members of the victim’s family including her daughters, granddaughters, cousins, and a sister. Many gave Victim Impact Statements describing the tragic effects of losing a loved one.

After the trial, Renken said, “Dating Violence is real and it is a local problem. We hope that this long sentence will deter others from making a tragic choice, and help both victims and offenders just walk away.”

  1. He’ll probably do 10 to 15 and get out but remember your elected officials gave this sentence

  2. He should have gotten life!!!! He took a life but yet he continues to live?!?

  3. @ JG he will be 72 when he gets out, thats a heck of a lot better than probabation!

  4. This is what is wrong with our country today; you can have some one sentenced for 40 years for murder but get out in 20 years for good behavior… What happened to the electric chair????Start using it and there will be less murders.

    1. Exactly! I’m the victim’s daughter so imagine how me and my siblings are feeling.
Rest in Peace to my beautiful mother CYNTHIA
