WC 11 YEAR OLDS SEASON ENDS WITH PAIR OF LOSSES ON SUNDAY

The 2024 Little League Season came to an end for the Washington County 11-Year-Old Boys on Sunday night as they dropped a pair of games in Burton.

Lufkin defeated Washington County 6-0 in a winner's bracket game. Lufkin pitchers Tiernan Chala and Grayson Due combined for a no-hitter.

With the win, Lufkin advances to the tournament championship.

Washington County then had to turn around and face Austin Northwest in an elimination game. Northwest had advanced by beating College Station 5-0.

WC jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Washington County's Parker Hejl and Northwest's Jonathan Parsons kept the game a pitchers' duel until the bottom of the fifth inning when Northwest exploded for nine runs to take a 9-1.

Washington County fought back in the top of the sixth inning, and where able to score six runs to cut the lead to 9-7, but that was as close as they would come.

Northwest now moves to face Lufkin for the Section 1 Tournament Championship. It is tenatively scheduled for tonight (Monday) at 6pm, with an "if necessary" game at 8pm.
