BURTON ISD HOSTING A WELCOME RECEPTION FOR NEW SUPERINTENDENT

  

The Burton Independent School District is inviting the public to a welcome reception for their new Superintendent of Schools, Mrs. Vikki Curry.  

The reception is going to be Tuesday, July 16, from 5-6pm in the Burton High School Cafeteria.

Curry was chosen unanimously by the Burton School Board to be the new Superintendent.

She was selected as the lone finalist on May 20 from a list of 38 candidates to replace Dr. Edna Kennedy, who had retired from Burton ISD, but then was later hired as the new Superintendent for Dime Box ISD.

After waiting the state required 21-day grace period, the school board made the hiring official on June 11.

Curry comes to Burton from Galveston ISD, where she has been serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
