‘HOT NIGHTS, COOL TUNES’ TO DEBUT SATURDAY WITH VARIETY OF HITS FROM THE PICTURES

A newcomer to “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” will perform tomorrow (Saturday) night for downtown Brenham’s first concert of the summer.

The Pictures, voted as Austin’s best wedding band, will cover songs from all styles of music including Motown, country, and classics from the 70s all the way to today.  The free concert begins at 7 p.m. at the corner of Alamo and Baylor Streets.

The concert series, marking its 20th anniversary this year, is getting a delayed start after rain led to last Saturday’s concert being cancelled.  Brenham Main Street Manager Leigh Linden says The Pictures, with their big repertoire, are up to the task of kicking things off with a bang.

Guests can enjoy food and drinks from local businesses and food trucks.  Starting at 5 p.m., Blue Bell Ice Cream will be set up on East Alamo Street, offering free ice cream cups to the first 500 people who stop by.  Meanwhile, the west end of Alamo Street will welcome back the Stray Katz Car Club for its car cruise-in.

This week’s theme for the concert is Luau Night, so Hawaiian attire is encouraged.

The concert is sponsored by BRIANNAS Fine Salad Dressings, Deep in the Heart Farms, Brannon Industrial Group and Valmont Industries.

Next up will be the Brown Sugar Band on July 20th and the Spicolis on July 27th.
