Officials took to social media to extend prayers for Trump, who was shot in his right ear but is okay.  The gunman was killed, but one attendee also died and two were critically wounded.

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst said many are shaken after Saturday’s events, but “truth and goodness prevails; fear not.”  She said this is “a moment burned into history and a man spared for a reason.”

U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul asked for prayers for Trump, those who were injured and the family of the one killed.  He said, “Our democratic process will not be deterred by this baseless act.”

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz called the shooting “horrific & wrong & evil.”

Governor Greg Abbott said Trump is “truly blessed,” stating that “had it been less than a half inch to the right, he would not have survived.”

President Joe Biden issued an address Sunday night condemning the act.  He said he is grateful Trump is doing well and called for unity, saying “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence – or any violence.”
