An early morning traffic stop lead to the discovery of hidden drugs and a trip to the hospital for the man found in possession of them.

According to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek, Deputy Cody Williams stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on I-10 West near Mile Marker 664 at 1:10am this (Wednesday) morning.

The driver, 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr. of San Antonio, gave permission to search the vehicle. Deputy Duane Meagher assisted Williams at the scene.

In his report, Deputy Williams stated that he detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, and found two Buc-ee’s beaver plushies in the rear seat.

After checking the beaver plushies, Williams discovered they had been re-stitched, and that they were stuffed with packages of marijuana and ecstasy.

During the traffic stop, Davis started complaining of having chest pains, so the Fayette County EMS was dispatched to the scene, and transported him to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

The marijuana bag, which weighed over two pounds, and the ecstasy bag were both confiscated by the Sheriff’s Office.

Korenek said that a warrant will be issued for the arrest of Davis when he is discharged from the hospital.
