WALLER COUNTY MAN GETS 40-YEAR PRISON TERM FOR WIFE’S MURDER

Jared James Dicus (Waller Co. Jail)

A Waller County man will be going to prison for a long time after pleading guilty to the murder of his wife.

22-year-old Jared James Dicus was arrested on January 11, 2023 for killing his wife, Anggy Diaz, at their home on his parents’ property.

According to investigators, Dicus stabbed her multiple times, and then proceeded to decapitate her.

During pre-trial hearings, the defendant was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. It was determined that he was competent enough to stand trial.

As part of a plea agreement, Dicus was sentenced by 506th District Court Judge Gary Cheney to 40 years in prison.

According to Waller County Criminal District Attorney Sean Whittmore, the plea agreement and the sentence were discussed with the victim’s family.

As part of that agreement, Dicus waived his right to appeal the verdict, the sentence, and any potential defense to prosecution including temporary insanity.

He is also not eligible for parole until 2043 at the earliest.
