BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. HOSTING FIREMAN’S FIESTA SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The Brenham Fire Department is holding its largest fundraiser of the year this weekend.

The 55th Annual Fireman’s Fiesta runs tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday at the Fireman’s Training Center, with food, games and auctions to support the fire department and its members.

Stephen Draehn, Assistant Chief for the volunteer side of the Brenham Fire Department, said during last week’s Community Corner on KWHI that the fundraiser offers a full weekend of activities.

The fun begins tomorrow with a pitch tournament in the morning, followed by a cornhole tournament in the afternoon.  Registration opens at 9 a.m. for the pitch tournament and is $10 per player, with games beginning at 10 a.m.  Entry for the cornhole tournament starts at 2 p.m. for $50 per individual, and play gets underway at 4 p.m.  The bar and kitchen will be open for food and drinks.  Spectating is free.

Festivities continue on Sunday with an all-you-can-eat sirloin steak and sausage lunch served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., dine-in or drive-thru.  A live auction begins at 1 p.m., and there will also be a silent auction and a drawing.

Meal tickets are $15 and are available at the Brenham Fire Station and from any Brenham Fire Department member.  They can also be purchased at Robert’s Service Station, K&M Grocery and Dan’s Meat Market.  A limited number of tickets will be sold at the event.
