The first will involve possible amendments to the city’s comprehensive plan, future land use map and thoroughfare plan. The amendments, which were recommended for approval by the Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission last month, set the foundation for the adoption of the Brenham Family Park Special Area Plan and the extension of South Blue Bell Road to Highway 36 South.
The Special Area Plan serves as a guideline for the intended uses of the 600-plus acres surrounding the proposed Brenham Family Park, which include single- and multi-family residential, commercial, and open space.
The second public hearing covers the proposed annexation of approximately 6.5 acres of land on Dixie Road and Old Masonic Road.
The city is looking to annex Dixie Road from Highway 36 North to the existing city limit line, due to the ongoing development of the Vintage Farms subdivision. The area to the west of Old Masonic Road was annexed in 1984 and is the Scenic Estates subdivision; the annexation would move the city limit line from the back of residential properties.
Once in regular session, councilmembers will consider an agreement with AJR Media Group for advertising for the Visit Brenham Destination Marketing Organization, as well as an agreement with Madden Media for Visit Brenham digital advertising.
An executive session will be held for discussion regarding the lease or sale of real property at 110 West Vulcan Street, the former Wells Fargo motor bank.
The council will meet tomorrow (Thursday) at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
