BURTON, RT-C FINISH OUT DAY THREE OF THE COLUMBUS TOURNAMENT
The Burton Lady Panther Volleyball Team finished fourth overall at the Columbus Tournament in this past Saturday. They took part in the tournament's Gold Bracket, which featured the four teams with the best records over the two days of pool play on Thursday and Friday.
In the semifinals, Burton lost to the host team, Columbus, 25-20 and 25-19. The Lady Panthers would then lose to St. John's in the third place game 26-24 and 25-18.
Reagan Roemer was named to the All Tournament Team.
Next up, Burton will host Fayetteville tomorrow (Tuesday) night at the Burton High School Gym. The JV plays at 5pm, followed by the Varsity afterwards.
Meanwhile, the Round Top-Carmine Cubettes picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to take home the Copper Bracket Championship on Saturday at the Columbus Tournament.
RT-C beat Boling 2-1. Boling won the first set 25-22, but the Cubettes came back and won the next two sets 25-15 and 25-21. Jill Eilers had a triple double with 14 kills, 15 digs, and 13 assists. Madison Markwardt just missed a triple-double with nine kills, ten digs, and 17 assists. Tess Eilers had nine kills, and 10 digs.
RT-C would then beat La Grange in two straight sets, 25-17 and 25-20. Markwardt had ten kills and eight assists. Tess Eilers had 13 digs.
Next up, RT-C will travel to Giddings tomorrow (Tuesday) night.
