DPS is investigating a fatal accident involving a box truck Tuesday afternoon near Somerville.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 36 at FM 1948.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, a 2007 Mack box truck was traveling northbound on Highway 36 when one of its tires blew out, causing it to lose traction, veer off the roadway and overturn.

The driver, 55-year-old Dana Brock of College Station, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Brock was the lone occupant in the truck, and no other vehicles were involved.

  1. There needs to be a traffic light there, it is hard to see traffic going North on 36, and hard to get into the hyway at times of holidays

      1. She was a very close friend of my son..in fact she spent Monday afternoon with him eating ribs and joking around..he is crushed…in tears..

      2. What arrangements were made for her resting? I can’t find any obituary info for her. I was a friend of her also

    1. It had nothing to do with the light it was before the light and I don’t know why they wouldn’t report that the box truck went over the guardrail and landed in a ditch at least 20 foot down
