Gives fundraiser.

There’s still time left to donate in the 6th Annual Brazos Valley Gives.

The fundraiser for Brazos Valley nonprofit organizations comes to an end today (Tuesday) with 18 hours of giving.  There are 198 nonprofits participating this year, and the overall goal is $1.5 million.

Donors can contribute online or in person at locations like the Washington County Chamber of Commerce office in Brenham.  Chamber President Jamie Rankin says the day is all about inspiring and motivating people to give back to their community and the causes they are passionate about.

As of 3:30 p.m., the total amount raised through online donations was $710,000.  That total does not count what is brought to in-person donation drop-offs like the Chamber office, the Bryan-College Station Eagle, the Caldwell Civic Center or the Navasota Center.

All donations that are collected go directly to the donor’s charity or charities of choice.

Polli Satterwhite, a volunteer with the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley, who organizes the fundraiser, says this initiative acts not only as a platform for different nonprofit groups to educate the public about the services they offer, but as a way for the community to rally around them.

According to Satterwhite, Washington County’s involvement in Brazos Valley Gives has steadily grown since it first joined the effort in 2020, going from 13 participating nonprofits to 29 this year.

The final tallies from the fundraiser will be announced in November during a Celebration of Philanthropy event at the George Bush Library in College Station.  Several incentives and prizes will also be awarded.
