BURTON PANTHERS DEFEAT BARTLETT 28-7

Buffalo Stadium in Giddings was good home away from home for the Burton Panthers as they picked up a 28-7 district win over the Bartlett Bulldogs last (Friday) night.

The Panthers got it started in the first quarter with a three-yard touchdown run by Rueben Rodriguez. D'Mitry Schulte added the extra point to give Burton a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, K.D. Patterson found Drayton Oakes on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Schulte added another PAT to give the Panthers a 14-0 lead at halftime.

Burton then started the second half with Oakes scoring on a 2-yard touchdown run. Schulte kicked another extra point to increase the lead to 21-0.

Bartlett scored on a touchdown run in the third quarter cut the lead to 21-7.

The Panthers would tack on one more score in the fourth quarter when Maleek Bibby intercepted a pass and ran it back 55-yards for a touchdown. Schulte finished a perfect 4 for 4 on his extra points as Burton sealed the victory.

The Panthers are now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in district. Next Friday, they will be on the road at Milano for a 7pm start time.
