GAS LEAK ONE OF TWO CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two calls on Thursday.

Around 5 p.m., the department was called out to South Day Street and West Stone Street for a fire investigation.  Units found there was a small spot fire next to the curb that had been extinguished by bystanders prior to the department’s arrival.  Personnel checked for hot spots and found nothing, so they cleared the call.

Nearing 6:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of a gas leak in the 200 block of Saeger Street.  They discovered that an excavator had hit a gas line, causing a leak.  The department stood by on scene and performed traffic control until the City of Brenham Gas Department was able to stop the leak.
