BELLVILLE ISD SUPT. NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL SUPT. OF YEAR
Bellville ISD Superintendent Dr. Nicole Poenitzsch has been selected by the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) as Texas’ nominee for the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year.
The award is given by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). As a state nominee for National Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Poenitzsch will be considered by a panel of judges from across the U.S. that will select four finalists.
Dr. Poenitzsch, who has served as Bellville ISD’s superintendent since 2019, started her career in public education in 2005 as a teacher and coach before moving up to administrative leadership positions in Royal, Weimar and Sealy ISDs. She earned her superintendent certification in 2012 and served as assistant superintendent of learning and innovation in Dripping Springs ISD before moving to Bellville ISD.
Dr. Poenitzsch was just recognized in September by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) as the 2024 Texas Superintendent of the Year.
The National Superintendent of the Year will be announced, and the state nominees honored, at AASA’s National Conference on Education, scheduled for March 6-8, 2025 in New Orleans.
