CAMPTOWN SIDEWALK EXPERIENCE SNEAK PEEK ON SATURDAY
The City of Brenham’s Family Fun Day will be having a special attraction this coming Saturday.
Those in attendance can get a sneak peek at “The Camptown Sidewalk Experience.”
“The Camptown Sidewalk Experience” is an interactive glimpse into historic Camptown, the earliest Freedom Colony in Washington County. It was a place where the enslaved met before emancipation and established a settlement at the end of the Civil War.
It is being presented in partnership with the City of Brenham, the Smithsonian, and the Texas Historical Commission.
Sponsors are Ann Hasskarl Morgan, the Texas Ten Historical Explorers, LaToya Beal, and the Washington County Center for African American Culture and Heritage.
In addition to that, there will be music, food, art, vendors, games, and kids’ activities. Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs with them.
Family Fun Day is Saturday from 2-6pm at Jerry Wilson Park at 900 East Alamo Street.
