A local architect will be the topic of discussion for the next installment of the Brenham Heritage Museum’s Crossroads Speaker Series.

Architectural Historian Marty Merritt will be speaking at the Brenham Heritage Museum Bus Depot Gallery this Tuesday from 5:30-6:30pm. The topic of his discussion will be: “Architect Travis Broesche.”

Few Brenhamites may have heard of Broesche, but many have seen his work. Merritt will shed light on the lesser-known architect, who began his practice of architecture in Brenham, and designed several buildings funded by the Public Works Administration, including the Washington County Courthouse.

Other important Broesche projects include: Brenham City Hall, the Blue Bell Creamery offices and Visitor’s Center (and other Blue Bell facilities throughout Texas and neighboring states), Trinity Medical Center, the remodeling and expansion of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village, phases 1 and 2.

Merritt is a board member of Houston Mod, a non-profit organization which promotes knowledge and appreciation of modern architecture in the City of Houston and the state of Texas.

Seating is limited so please RSVP to: admin@brenhamheritagemuseum.org. Admission is FREE for museum members and $5 for non-members.

This program is in conjunction with the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street Program to take place in Downtown Brenham this winter.
