STANDOFF WITH FAYETTE COUNTY DEPUTIES LEAD TO AN ARREST
After a lengthy standoff at gunpoint with Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, a suspect finally gave himself up peacefully.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Duane Meagher was dispatched to a residence in the 1900 Block of North Kirtley Road on Wednesday night at 5:30pm.
A neighbor reported that the female subject was in fear of the male subject she resided with, and asked for a welfare check. As Deputy Meagher approached the residence, the male subject, who was identified as 37-year-old Maximus Forbing appeared on the balcony.
Meagher said Forbing became confrontational, and demanded his badge number, which he gave him twice. A female subject began calling down from the residence and told the deputy that she needed to speak to him. Meagher asked her to come down and speak with him and she agreed.
Meagher attempted to make entry by going up a staircase to the residence. Forbing and the female stood next to each other atop the stairs. At which point, he produced a handgun and pointed it towards the deputy.
After a standoff, Deputy Duane Meagher and Sgt. Ryan Meagher were able to talk Forbing down. He came downstairs and surrendered to deputies on the scene. Deputies located a 9mm Beretta handgun in Forbing’s jacket, which he admitted to being the one he pointed at Meagher. A further search also discovered an AM-15 rifle on the balcony.
Forbing was arrested for Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange for booking.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said they are thankful that the situation ended peacefully and that no one was hurt. They also sent their thanks to the DPS for providing assistance at the scene.
