TXDOT BEGINS WORK ON WIDENING HIGHWAY 105 IN GRIMES COUNTY

The Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor began work on Monday to widen a portion of Highway 105 in Grimes County.

The contractor will be adding turn lanes at selected intersections between Highway 6 and County Road 412.

The purpose of the project is to enhance safety along the corridor ahead of the larger Highway 105 Widening Project that is planned for 2029.

The public should be advised that there will be alternating lane shifts and shoulder closures going east and west bound depending on which side of the road that the contractors will be working on.

Motorists are encouraged to plan for extra travel time, or to seek alternate routes.

According to TxDOT, the work is intended to be completed in two-mile segments with the entire project anticipated to be finished by August 2026.
