DECEMBER SALES TAX REBATES UP ACROSS WASHINGTON CO.
Sales and tax distributions for Washington County entities ended on a high note, with December’s rebates all higher than this time last year.
Washington County reported collections of $375,250 this month, up 6.6 percent from $351,997 last December. For 2024, the county’s receipts totaled $4,607,019, down 2.3 percent from $4,715,862 over the course of 2023.
Brenham received $862,854 in December, up 13.55 percent from the $759,868 brought in last December. As a whole, the year saw the city receive $10,026,966, an increase of 4.22 percent from last year’s sum of $9,620,783.
Burton’s rebate in December was $11,915, growth of 10.35 percent from $10,798 last December. The city collected $158,591 in 2024, 38.21 percent above 2023’s total of $114,740.
According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state paid out $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations this month, up 6.8 percent from last December and up 2.2 percent for the whole year.
