FIVE CALLS MONDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Monday.

Shortly before 12:15 p.m., firefighters were called out to a gas station in the 600 block of West Alamo Street for a report of a gasoline spill by a pump.  Upon arrival, they found a small spill by one of the pumps and cleaned it up before returning to service.

At 1:30 p.m., Brenham units responded along with the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department for a grass fire in the 3400 block of Wiesepape Road.  Firefighters discovered a controlled burn that got out of control.  Units used tank water to put out the fire.  The Brenham department returned to the station, while the Meyersville department remained on location.

Approaching 6 p.m., units went out to an alarm sounding at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South.  The alarm had already been reset when the fire department arrived.  An employee told the department that a resident had set off the alarm accidentally.

At 6:30 p.m., BFD members were dispatched along with the Gay Hill Volunteer Fire Department for a report of a child locked in a vehicle in the 12000 block of Highway 36 North.  When they arrived, they found the door was already open.

Around 11:30 p.m., firefighters received a report of a carbon monoxide alarm at a home in the 2300 block of Progress Drive.  The fire department and City of Brenham Gas Department found a positive reading on their detectors, so they ventilated the home.  They later found that the oven was causing carbon monoxide, so the gas department turned the gas off to the oven and the fire department cleared the scene.
