NATIONAL CHAMPION BLINN BASEBALL PLAYERS RECEIVE THEIR RINGS
The 2024 Blinn Buccaneer Baseball Team gathered together one more time on Monday at the Brenham Campus Student Center to receive what they worked so hard to get this past season, their championship rings.
The Bucs defeated Northwest Florida State 12-5 at the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado back on June 1. It was the first Baseball National Championship in school history.
Blinn started the 2024 season 11-11, but then went on an incredible 36-6 run to win the title. That included a 5-1 record at the World Series.
Lucas Davenport was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Pitcher after posting a 3-0 record. In 17 2/3 innings pitched, he finished with 15 strikeouts, and no walks.
Cade Climie finished the tournament with a .556 batting average, five homers, four doubles, 15 runs scored, and 17 RBIs. He was named the Most Outstanding Hitter, and took home the Kirby Puckett Trophy for Tournament MVP.
Tony Vernars won the Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award.
They also set tournament records with 101 hits and 86 runs scored.
After guiding the Bucs to their second straight conference championship, and second straight appearance at the NJCAA World Series, Head Coach Dusty Hart was named as the NJCAA Coach of the Year.
In his two seasons at Blinn, Hart has posted a record of 93-32.
The 2025 Blinn Buccaneer Baseball season begins with a doubleheader against Temple on Saturday, January 25, at Leroy Dreyer Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
