CUBETTE SOCCER OPENS I-10 SHOOTOUT WITH A WIN

The "I-10 Shootout" ended up being an appropriate name for the annual Katy ISD Tournament, as it took the Brenham Cubette Soccer Team and Fort Bend Austin going to a shootout to decide a winner on Thursday afternoon.

The match was part of the tournament's Paetow bracket, and played at Legacy Stadium.

Each team scored a goal in the first half. Brenham's came on a free kick by Alyce Sheets from 30 yards out.

Both teams also scored one goal each in second half to finish regulation tied at 2-2. Romi Gonzalez scored with a PK due to a handball on the Bulldogs.

The match ended up going to the shootout, which was won by the Cubettes 4-1. Romi Gonzalez, Alayna Allen, Nali Washington, and Leslie Quevedo all scored for Brenham.

Meanwhile, Cubette GK Teagan Vaughn had two saves during the shootout to help preserve the win.

With the victory, Brenham is now 6-0 on the season.

Next up, the Cubettes will continue in the winner's bracket with a match against North Shore this (Friday) afternoon at 4pm.
