TxDOT OPEN HOUSE JAN. 30 TO DISCUSS PROPOSED CHANGES TO HIGHWAY 290 CROSSOVERS

TxDOT has scheduled an open house this month to provide information about its plans to rework various crossovers along Highway 290, between Blue Bell Road in Brenham and FM 2447 in Chappell Hill.

The informational meeting will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department Community Hall.

According to the meeting notice, the TxDOT – Bryan District is working in collaboration with Washington County leaders to develop the plans.  They include reconfiguring existing crossovers to Restricted Crossing U-Turn (RCUT) intersections at selected locations and closing other crossovers.

TxDOT says the plans are intended to enhance safety and improve traffic flow along the corridor.  No additional right-of-way is proposed for the project.

Visitors to the come-and-go open house will be able to review project information, ask questions and provide feedback on the design.

Comments from the public regarding the proposed project can be submitted by email to BRY_PublicComment@txdot.gov or by mail to the TxDOT – Bryan District Office, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Attn: Sydney Fox.  All comments must be received by Friday, February 14th.

  1. Pretty much already have their minds made up and did not even speak to the Chappell Hill Fire Dept about their concerns. RCUTs, just asking for more wrecks. And why do we need sidewalks along 290, who is crazy enough to walk next to those crazy drivers.
