FOUR CALLS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to four calls on Thursday.

At 10:45 a.m., members of the Brenham and Berlin Fire Departments were dispatched to a grass fire in the 2500 block of Cocks Crow Road.  They made location to find about a quarter of an acre on fire.  After putting out the small fire, Brenham units returned to service while Berlin units put out hot spots.

Approaching 11:45 a.m., the Brenham department was called out to another grass fire, this one in the 2500 block of Tielke Lane.  Upon arrival, firefighters found it was a prescribed burn.  They contacted the company performing the burn, and everything was deemed okay, so they returned to the station.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., BFD members went out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for an alarm sounding.  They arrived and found the alarm was reset.  After speaking with an employee, they learned a resident had pulled the alarm for a behavioral issue.

Just past 9 p.m., firefighters received a report of illegal burning at a home in the 1500 block of Clay Street.  They found a pile of leaves burning in the backyard, so they extinguished the small fire and cleared the scene.
