According to the Austin County and Waller County Sheriff’s Offices, the inmate, identified as Salvador Saucedo, escaped around 7 p.m. Thursday while undergoing testing at Midcoast Medical Center Bellville.

Saucedo is a Hispanic male who was said to be wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.  The Austin County Sheriff’s Office says he has face tattoos, missing front teeth and brown hair with red highlights.

Saucedo was not handcuffed when he escaped, and it is unknown if he is armed.  Law enforcement has not stated what Saucedo was being charged with.

The Bellville Police Department said the subject was still at large as of 9:30 a.m., with no reported sightings of him.  At this time, it is not known if he is still in the Bellville area.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are searching, utilizing a DPS helicopter, drones and K-9 units.

Bellville ISD said administrators and school resource officers are aware of the situation.  The district said additional law enforcement is in the area, and that all students will remain securely indoors today (Friday).

Anyone who knows where Saucedo may be located is asked to contact the Waller County Sheriff’s Office at 979-826-8282 or, in case of an emergency, 911.
