SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN NAVASOTA SHOOTING INCIDENT

Navasota Police have identified the suspect in connection with a shooting incident that occurred this past Friday.
Around 2:30 p.m., the Navasota Police Department received a report of a reckless driver on Highway 6 South. A 9-1-1 caller reported that the vehicle exited the highway while officers were enroute.
Shortly after, another caller reported seeing a male suspect firing a weapon from the vehicle toward a parked car in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
Police say that witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene via the feeder road, driving north in the southbound lanes. Upon arrival, officers located a truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot with damage consistent with gunshots.
Navasota Police immediately began searching the area for the suspect vehicle while also increasing security measures at nearby schools as a precaution.
The Brazos County Sheriff's Office received information indicating that the suspect may have fled onto FM 2154.
In response, Navasota Police Officers, DPS Troopers, and Brazos County Sheriff's Deputies coordinated a search of the area.
The suspect’s vehicle was located at a residence at the intersection of Henderson Road and Reservation Street in Millican.
Upon approaching a nearby residence, officers found the suspect on the porch and took him into custody.
The suspect, 29-year-old Charles Medina of Millican, was found to be under the influence.
During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm and additional evidence at the scene. Medina was taken into custody and charged with Deadly Conduct, Criminal Mischief, and Reckless Driving.
