The recognition comes for Sadie Royer and Noble Pharaon. Presented by Texas Thespians, the award honors students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement alongside their dedication to theatre arts.
Additionally, Royer has been selected as a Student Leadership Officer for Texas Thespians, a role that will allow her to help lead and inspire theatre students across the state. In the position, she will represent Texas Thespians at events, assist with student programming and contribute to the advancement of theatre education in Texas.
To earn the Texas Theatre Scholar distinction, students must meet several criteria, including:
- Active enrollment and good standing in their campus theatre department;
- Active participation in theatrical programs throughout the school year;
- Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale across all academic coursework;
- Meeting any additional local theatre program requirements;
- Exhibiting strong moral character and behavior that reflects positively on their school and community.
Both Royer and Pharaon exceeded these standards and will receive certificates and pins in honor of their achievement.
Brenham High School Theatre Director Kara Freeman says Brenham ISD is incredibly proud of the two students and honored to have them represent the high school and district in the Texas theatre community. She says, “This award reflects their dedication to the arts and their commitment to academic success.”
Texas Thespians is the nation’s largest chapter of the Educational Theatre Association and is dedicated to recognizing and supporting student achievement in theatre education throughout the state of Texas.
