WASHINGTON COUNTY CELEBRATES DAY AT CAPITOL

Officials and groups from across Washington County were recognized on Wednesday by the Texas Legislature.

State Senator Lois Kolkhorst read a resolution proclaiming Wednesday as Washington County Day at the Capitol, calling attention to the county’s history and reputation.

Present for the occasion were dignitaries from Washington County and the Cities of Brenham and Burton, students and officials from Brenham and Burton ISDs and St. Paul’s Christian Day School, members of Blinn College and the Burton Heritage Society, representatives from the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and other local businesses and community leaders.

As part of the day’s events, local visitors toured the Capitol, spoke with Senator Kolkhorst and State Representative Trey Wharton, and – as is tradition – offered scoops of Blue Bell Ice Cream and handed out BRIANNAS Fine Salad Dressing to legislators and staff.
