WTF Cookers, representing Washington County, earned a Reserve Champion Go Texan award and was the sixth overall team out of 252 that participated.
In addition, each of the team’s meat categories placed in the top 15 percent, including 16th place for chicken, 17th place for ribs and 30th place for brisket.
In a Facebook post Sunday night, WTF Cookers gave thanks to all of the sponsors for their support of the team. It called the competition “one for the books” and said the opportunity to celebrate with loved ones was “an awesome experience.”
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officially begins with music entertainment tomorrow (Tuesday) and runs through March 23rd.
