Inestroza’s oil painting, “Grazing Bison”, sold for $40,000 at the rodeo’s School Art Auction, an exclusive event featuring fewer than 100 art pieces from students across the state.

In a press release today (Wednesday), Brenham ISD said Inestroza possesses a “fearless approach to painting and masterful technique” and that her work “captivated a group of generous donors, who collectively pitched in to support her work and invest in her bright artistic future.”

Brenham High School art instructor Stephen Henry called Inestroza “an exceptionally talented artist” and said “her willingness to take bold creative risks is what sets her apart.”  He added, “To see her hard work pay off at this level is truly inspiring.”

The HLSR School Art Program has been a staple in Texas for over 50 years, providing Pre-K through 12th-grade students with opportunities to showcase their artistic talents, compete for scholarships, and have their work displayed in the Hayloft Gallery.

This year, Brenham ISD brought home three Best of Show awards from the competition, as well as three Gold Medals and four Special Merit recognitions.  Additionally, two 3D pieces from Brenham ISD were among only 76 selected to advance to NRG Stadium for final judging.

Brenham ISD art instructor Savannah Nichols said Brenham ISD is proud of all of the students’ hard work and that, “The talent in our program continues to shine year after year.”

The community is invited to celebrate the students’ accomplishments by visiting the Brenham ISD Rodeo Art Exhibit on Wednesday, April 2nd from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Brenham Community Education Building, 1301 South Market Street.  All of the student artwork will be on display, along with trophies, ribbons and a photo backdrop for pictures.  Light refreshments will be available.
