BURTON ACADEMICS TEAM WINS DISTRICT MEET
Students from Burton High School took home top honors at the District 26-2A UIL Academic Meet, which finished up on Saturday.
The Panthers competed in 23 events across multiple disciplines at the meet, which was the culmination of weeks, if not months, of study and practice.
Burton emerged victorious with a team total of 736 points. This was their highest ever point total and only their second ever district championship in Academics.
They qualified a total of 31 students for the Regional Academic Meet, which is also their highest number of advancing students.
The Panthers were led in scoring by Devlin Douglas (Jr.) with 50 points across four events, Samantha Angell (Sr.) with 49 points across six events, and by Vivian Layman (Sr.) with 42 points across four events.
Next up, Burton will travel to Corpus Christi on April 25th and 26th to compete in the Regional Academic Meet hosted by Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
