‘A DINNER TO REMEMBER’ SETS RECORD WITH OVER $181,000 RAISED FOR BRENHAM ISD STUDENTS, EDUCATION FOUNDATION

It was an unforgettable evening on Thursday, as the Brenham ISD Education Foundation’s annual fundraiser showcasing student artwork reached new heights.

The top item at Thursday's "A Dinner to Remember"
event was a collaborative painting of downtown
Brenham from over 15 Brenham High School art
students, titled "Downtown Super-Sized Plein Air!"
It sold for $7,000 to principal buyer YellowTruck.

“A Dinner to Remember” packed the Fireman’s Training Center with Brenham ISD supporters, raising money for local art and CTE students and programs.  The fundraiser also helps the Education Foundation fund student scholarships and teacher mini-grants.

Preliminary numbers provided by the Education Foundation show that the event raised roughly $181,500, not counting the total brought in from ticket drawings.

Education Foundation Board President Kyle Merten said it is the foundation’s goal to give back to students and teachers in any way possible.  As the foundation and this event have grown year after year, he said the students are able to see the buy-in from the community.

Of the full total, $98,000 came from silent and live auctions, plus donations.  The largest bid came on a collaborative painting of downtown Brenham created by over 15 high school students, selling for $7,000 to YellowTruck.

The Education Foundation has awarded over $750,000 in mini-grants since its founding in 2004.

Presenting sponsor for “A Dinner to Remember” was Blue Bell Creameries.
