BURTON ISD EDUCATOR PASSES AWAY AFTER MEDICAL EMERGENCY
The Burton ISD community is mourning the sudden loss of an educator.
Burton ISD issued a statement announcing the passing of Kim Applewhite, who taught 6th grade English and Language Arts.
According to the district, Applewhite “experienced a medical emergency” on campus this (Monday) morning. She was tended to by emergency responders, but she ultimately passed away.
Applewhite had served Burton ISD for nine years. Burton ISD said she “was known for her heartfelt commitment to students and her vibrant presence in the classroom.” The district called her “a cherished member of the Burton Panther family.”
Counseling services are being made available to students and staff members. Brenham ISD is providing additional support.
Burton ISD said, “Our thoughts are with Ms. Applewhite’s family, her students, and our entire school community as we mourn this tremendous loss. At this time, we ask for privacy for her family and our school community as we grieve and support one another.”

Burton ISD is deeply saddened to confirm the passing of Ms. Kim Applewhite, a dedicated 6th-grade teacher, who experienced a medical emergency on campus the morning of April 14. Emergency services responded quickly, but tragically, Ms. Applewhite passed away.
Ms. Applewhite had served Burton ISD for 9 years and was known for her heartfelt commitment to students and her vibrant presence in the classroom. She was a cherished member of the Burton Panther family.
Counseling services are being made available to both students and staff, with additional support provided by neighboring Brenham ISD.

Mrs Applewhite was both of my kids teacher at one time.She was one of the nicest teacher and was wonderful with her students.She was one of my daughter’s favorite teacher they had a bond that no one could break.My family and i are keeping her family in our thoughts and prayers as the family prepare the arrangements to lay her to RIP.
