SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH AUSTIN COUNTY STABBING
The Austin County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing that occurred on Saturday night.
Deputies were dispatched around 10pm to the 14,000 Block of Kidd Lane in Bellville for a report of a possible Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon incident.
Upon their arrival, deputies located a subject who had cuts and puncture wounds related to the assault.
The Austin County EMS made location and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment.
A suspect, who was identified as 54-year-old Robert William Burt Jr., fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
Multiple members of the Austin County Regional Special Response Team, Austin County Sheriff’s Office K9 Officer “Knox”, and Austin County Sheriff’s Office Drone Units went in route to assist with locating the suspect.
A search was conducted and Burt was located hiding in a wooded area near the scene. Burt was arrested and booked into the Austin County Jail for a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The Austin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the case.
Officers with the Bellville Police Department and deputies with the Waller County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
