ELECTION 2025: BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD POSITION 6
With the start of early voting drawing closer for the May 3rd City of Brenham and Brenham ISD elections, KWHI is speaking with candidates appearing on local ballots.
Today’s preview is for Brenham School Board – Position 6, where Justin Colley and Mike Garner are running for the seat held by Natalie Lange, who did not seek re-election.
Justin Colley works as a regional sales manager at Brannon Industrial Group. He is involved with the Washington County Chamber of Commerce as a board member and Blue Blazer.
Colley believes his family’s active participation with Brenham ISD gives him a strong understanding of how the district operates and which areas can grow. He says there are many positive things happening within the district, and through his service, he hopes to be able to shine a brighter light on them.
Mike Garner is a director of projects in the oil and gas industry. Before moving to Brenham, he served as a member of the Giddings City Council and Giddings Volunteer Fire Department.
Garner says the most important role of a school board member is providing continuous oversight, making sure the district is doing its best to offer a great education. His points of emphasis include raising teacher compensation, responsible use of taxpayer funds, and keeping an open mind on how to enhance Brenham ISD’s programs and services.
Each candidate was asked questions about what they consider to be the primary responsibilities of a school trustee, some of the main issues facing Brenham ISD, and how they plan to work and collaborate with other members of the board.
